Skin cancer - How many warnings will it take for people to realize that too much exposure to the sun can be lethal where it can lead to fatal results. How many people think they have skin cancer but still choose not to address the matter with their doctor? How many of you ignore and neglect your body all because you want that all over tan and will stop at nothing to get it, i.e. using baby oil to encourage the skin to burn instead of protecting it with sun cream.
Skin cancer is the most common form of human cancer. It is estimated that over 1 million new cases occur yearly. The annual rates of all forms of skin cancer are increasing each year, representing a growing public concern. It has also been estimated that nearly half of all Americans who live to the age of 65 will develop skin cancer at least once. Much of this total in numbers could have been avoided if those people took heed of the warning signs. Skin cancer needs to be taken seriously to help prevent unnecessary deaths.
Symptoms you need to be aware of if skin cancer is present are a change in the appearance of your skin such as a sore that will not heal. Moles on the skin have to be monitored at all times.
The term "skin cancer" refers to three different conditions. From the least to the most dangerous are listed below. Regardless of the least – to the most dangerous, cancer is cancer and needs to be prevented if possible.
1 Basal cell carcinoma (or basal cell carcinoma epithelioma)
2 Squamous cell carcinoma
3 Melanoma
The two most common forms of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Together, these two are also referred to as nonmelanoma skin cancer. Melanoma is generally the most serious form of skin cancer because it tends to spread (metastasize) throughout the body quickly. Unfortunately due to many people choosing to ignore the early signs - many types of cancer is given the opportunity to spread, therefore making treatment less successful. If you are ever in doubt and worried that you may have over exposed your self to the harmful rays of sun – then seek medical attention right away.
Catching cancer in the early stages of growth – whether it is skin cancer or not increases your chances of recovery. Never use unfamiliar beauty products on the skin because it can worsen the problem you are treating. Never go off the advice of a friend or use their medication, this is for your own safety, what may have been prescribed for a friend or member of your family will have no affect on your condition due to the fact of severity of the ailment or if it be a complaint as such, only your doctor is in the position to determine this. |
